1. NDIS Compliance & Fund Management
- Designing a fund tracking system that accurately maps each participant's NDIS plan balance, remaining funds, and plan end dates without manual intervention.
- Handling multiple invoice routing logics where invoices had to be sent to the participant, NDIS directly, or a third-party plan manager depending on the client's preference.
- Ensuring every transaction and order record remained fully auditable and compliant with NDIS billing standards.
- Accurately linking participant NDIS numbers, plan manager relationships, and fund allocations within a single unified data model
2. User Experience
- NDIS participants include users with physical and cognitive disabilities, requiring the platform to meet high accessibility standards while remaining intuitive for all age groups and tech literacy levels.
- The platform had to serve three distinct user roles participants, plan managers, and administrators each with different dashboards, permissions, and workflows, without creating a fragmented experience.
- Product discovery had to be frictionless, with size variants (S, M, L, XL) and product types (pads, wipes, gloves) clearly presented to reduce cart abandonment and purchasing errors
- Integrating social login (Google, Facebook) alongside traditional email authentication while maintaining a consistent, seamless onboarding flow for all user types.
3. Security and Data Privacy
- Protecting highly sensitive personal data including participant NDIS numbers, dates of birth, medical funding details, and payment information under Australian Privacy Act requirements.
- Implementing secure multi-gateway payment processing across Card, UPI, Wallet, and Bank Transfer while preventing fraudulent transactions and ensuring PCI-DSS aligned data handling.
- Managing role-based access control to ensure plan managers could only access funds and client records explicitly assigned to them, preventing any cross-participant data exposure.
- Building a robust password reset and account recovery system with time-limited secure links to protect against unauthorized account access.
Client Goals
After a thorough understanding of the requirements, we decided to develop a robust NDIS integrated eCommerce platform that would:
- Enable NDIS participants to browse, select, and purchase disability care products online with full visibility of their plan funds, remaining balance, and upcoming plan end dates.
